PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- A big second half led the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout of UW-Superior on Saturday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Bianca Mahoney found an open Yamilex Jaramillo in the middle of the Yellowjacket defense, and Jaramillo delivered the Pioneers' first goal of the game in the 14th-minute.
UW-Platteville took a 1-0 lead into the half and out shot Superior 8-3 in the first 45 minutes.
The Pioneers dominated the second half, scoring three goals in just over a 15-minute span. Freshman Betty Rodriguez scored the game's second goal in the 59th-minute, assisted by Jaramillo. Freshman Ellie Peterson scored her first collegiate goal in the 67th-minute, giving the Pioneers a comfy 3-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Peterson rebounded Jaramillo's shot that went off the post to give the Pioneers a 4-0 lead.
UW-Platteville defense was as dominant as the offense and didn't allow a shot in the second half.
The Pioneers hosts UW-Whitewater on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
