PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer shutout Lakeland College, 3-0, on Monday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers controlled the whole game, and out shot the Muskies 32-1. UW-Platteville also had a 7-0 corner kick advantage and put 14 of its 32 shots on goal.
Senior Katie Viney delivered a beautiful back heal pass to an open Betty Rodriguez, who scored her second goal of the season, putting the Pioneers up 1-0 15:40 into the game. Then with just over a minute and a half left in the first half, Yamilex Jaramillo found Bianca Mahoney, alone at the top of the box and Mahoney gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead going into the break.
The Pioneers final goal came from a header by Emily Phillips, assisted by Anna Sobal in the 61st-minute.
UW-Platteville opens conference play on Saturday at UW-Stout at 2 p.m.
