PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to North Park University on Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
"We played hard tonight, so I'm proud of them for the way they fought," said head coach Allison Stringer. "But it's tough loss to accept after dominating nearly the entire game."
The Pioneers out shot the Vikings 13-3 while NPU had a slight 4-3 advantage on corner kicks.
The Vikings took advantage of a Pioneer defensive miscue in the 10th-minute and taking a 1-0 lead. North Park made it a two goal game on its only shot of the seond-half in the 47th-minute.
Senior Cassie Blatz drilled a beautiful shot from 30 yards into the top left corner in the 63rd-minute cutting the Pioneers deficit to 2-1. UW-Platteville's offense couldn't score the equalizer in the final 25 minutes as the Pioneers out shot NPU 8-1 in the final half.
"We need to learn from tonight's game and bounce back on Saturday for the start of conference play," said Stringer.
The Pioneers welcome UW-Stevens Point on Saturday at 2 p.m. to begin WIAC action.
