Women's Soccer Falls to No. 13 Aurora
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell to 13th-ranked Aurora, 2-0, on Saturday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell to 13th-ranked Aurora, 2-0, on Saturday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers held the 13th-ranked Spartans to a season low two goals. Aurora was held scoreless until the 25th-minute when Lorelei Ritzert scored off a rebounded shot that hit the post. The Spartans went on to out shoot the Pioneers 9-2 in the first-half then 7-4 in the final half.
UW-Platteville's Julie Divita almost had the equalizer late in the second-half when she manage to get the ball inside the six-yard box, but AU's Maddy Crawford made a huge diving save keeping AU ahead, 1-0.
Then at 89:00, AU's Nicci Bermudes scored from 27 yards out putting the game away 2-0.
The Pioneers don't have much time to recover after a tough game against a top-13 team as they host Carroll on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
