PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team competed against the Milwaukee School of Engineering Tuesday night in the annual Throwdown in the Theatre. The Raiders picked up three wins by pin fall in the Center for the Arts to pull ahead and win the dual 31-19 over the Pioneers.
The dual opened at 125 pounds and sophomore Chris Karbash got things started for the Pioneers with a 14-1 major decision. Freshman Brady Grennan nearly added to UW-Platteville's lead during the 133 match, but a last second score for MSOE gave the visitors a 10-8 decision over the Pioneer.
The Raiders picked up two wins by fall at 141 and 149 to comfortably move into the lead, but senior David Cushman reset the energy in the room with a thrilling win by fall (1:18) in the 157-pound match. MSOE won the next three weight classes, but the Pioneers finished strong with senior Alex Ashauer defeating Jake Schmitt with a 4-0 decision in the heavyweight after a win by forfeit at 197.
