Hannah and Smith to wrestle at U.S. Open
Platteville, Wis.- Freshman Tyler Hannah and assistant coach Eddie Smith, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling program, will compete in the 2022 USA Wrestling U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nevada April 27-May 1.
Platteville, Wis.- Freshman Tyler Hannah and assistant coach Eddie Smith, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling program, will compete in the 2022 USA Wrestling U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nevada April 27-May 1.
Hannah will compete at 87 KG in the UWW Junior Under-20 Greco-Roman competition as the top seed. The top eight finishers will qualify for the UWW Under-20 World Team Trials in Geneva, Ohio, June 3-5. The winner of the event in Las Vegas will earn a spot in the Pan American Games, which are held in Mexico, July 8-10. Hannah has twice represented the United States at the Pan American Games, bringing home a gold medal in Greco-Roman style and freestyle wrestling.
Hannah has already qualified for the Senior World Team Trials in Coralville, Iowa, on Sunday, May 22 by placing third at the senior level world team trials last summer.
Smith will wrestle at 72 KG in the senior division. The top six finishers will qualify for the Senior World Team Trials in Coralville. Smith enters the tournament as the fifth seed and has twice qualified for the World Team Trials.
