Pioneers finish 2-1 at Jim Fox Duals
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team won two of three duals Saturday at the University of Dubuque’s Jim Fox Duals. The Pioneers started with a decisive 51-6 victory over Concordia University of Wisconsin. UW-Platteville then fell 16-25 to Concordia-Moorhead before shutting out MacMurry College 54-0 to conclude the day’s duals.

The Pioneers started with a decisive 51-6 victory over Concordia University of Wisconsin. UW-Platteville then fell 16-25 to Concordia-Moorhead before shutting out MacMurry College 54-0 to conclude the day's duals.
In the first dual against CUW, six Pioneers pinned their opponents to build up to the Pioneer's 51-6 win. Scott Arneson (133 pounds), Gavin Burch (149 pounds), Garrett Passmore (165 pounds), Grant Wedepohl (184 pounds), Tyler Pasker (197 pounds), and Lucius Rinehart (285 pounds) all left the mat by pinning their CUW opponents. Jake Carpenter defeated Alex Montbriand 10-4 in the 174 pounds match with Chase Katzenmeyer (141 pounds) and Tony Bivens (157 pounds) each winning by forfeit.
In the second dual of the day, Scott Arneson, Chase Katzenmeyer, Tony Bivens, Grant Wedepohl, and Lucius Rinehart each won their matches against Concordia-Moorhead.
Arneson defeated Benjamin Bogart with a 7-3 decision at 133 pounds. Katzenmeyer won by an 8-5 decision over Bret Wilson at 141 pounds and Tony Bivens defeated Adam Jaeger in a close 3-2 decision at 157 pounds. Wedepohl won 10-1 in a major decision at 184 pounds over Nick Gravdahl and Rinehart concluded with a 2-0 decision over Noah Carter at 285 pounds.
The Pioneers then finished the day strong with a shutout over MacMurry College with seven wrestlers pinning their opponents.
Dillon Gottschalk won the 125 pounds by major decision over Ellex Williams 11-3. Scott Arneson tallied his second pin of the day with Reese Britton falling at 4:18 in the 133 pounds match. Chase Katzenmeyer then defeated Mason Ford by 12-3 in a 141 pounds major decision.
The Pioneers then went on to pin their next five opponents with Alexander Strueder (149 pounds), Tony Bivens (157 pounds), Garrett Passmore (165 pounds), Jake Carpenter (174 pounds), and Grant Wedepohl (184 pounds) each pinning MacMurry wrestlers. Max Schmitz won the 197 pounds with a 14-4 major decision and Lucius Rinehart concluded the day with another pin, this time over E'Tayvious Hentz in the 285 pounds competition.
Overall, the Pioneers outscored their opponents 121 -31 over the course of the three duals. Four Pioneers recorded two pins each with Scott Arneson, Garrett Passmore, Grant Wedepohl, and Lucius Rinehart each pinning two opponents and Arneson, Wedepohl, and Rinehart defeating their third opponent.
The Pioneers will return home and to WIAC action on Thursday, Jan. 10 when they host the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater in Williams Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
