Wrestlers earn three titles at home opener
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneer wrestling team earned three first place victories on Saturday at the Super 8 Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The meet marked the first official meet of the year for the Pioneers and hosted teams including Truman State University, Augustana College, Loras College, Central College, Manchester University and Hannibal-LaGrange University.

The meet marked the first official meet of the year for the Pioneers and hosted teams including Truman State University, Augustana College, Loras College, Central College, Manchester University and Hannibal-LaGrange University.
In the 149-pound weight class the Pioneers took three of the top six spots with senior Mason Bohm highlighting the group with a first place win by fall. Freshman Jon Goetz established himself as a dominant wrestler for the Pioneers with his first place finish in the 174-pound class. Another freshman, Grant Wedepohl, made his way to the top of the 184-pound class podium with a first place win by decision.
This season the Pioneers boast five seniors, two of which are returning national qualifiers. Mike DeRoehn enters his second year as head coach. The Pioneers welcome Lakeland College to Platteville on Nov. 12 as the two will compete head-to-head at Bo Ryan Court.
