Augustana and Dubuque tops Pioneer Wrestling

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team fell to Auguastana 34-9 and Dubuque 41-0 Thursday at Williams Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers' highlights of the night came from Mason Bohm at 149 pounds, Cole Ferguson at 125 pounds and Randy Wade at 165 pounds, all against Augustana.
Bohm ended the second period with a takedown to tie the match up 4-4. He opened the final period with a two-point takedown before Bohm and Augustana's Matt Sears traded reversals to end the match, 9-7.
After a scoreless first, Pioneers' Wade began the second period with a reversal before Jordan Furioso earned an escape, 2-1. Wade extended his lead with a two-point near fall in the final minute of the match for a 4-1 victory.
With no points scored in the opening period, Augie's Jimmy Panozzo started the second period with an escape for the only point in the first five minutes. Ferguson tied it up with an escape of his own, 1-1, to start the third period. Ferguson came away with the overtime victory with a reversal in the final 30 seconds of the second overtime.
The Pioneers closest match to score a point against Dubuque, was in Ferguson's 3-2 setback to Joey Cisneros.
UW-Platteville will return to the mat on Saturday for the Lakeland Muskie Quad. The Pioneers will square off with host Lakeland, MSOE and St. John's (Minn.).
