Pioneers take 2 of 3 at the UW-Platteville Quad
The UW-Platteville wrestling team won two of its three duals at Williams Fieldhouse in the UW-Platteville Quad Friday, defeating Knox College (45-7) and MSOE (28-15), and falling to Lakeland College (22-18).

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team won two of its three duals at Williams Fieldhouse in the UW-Platteville Quad Friday, defeating Knox College (45-7) and MSOE (28-15), and falling to Lakeland College (22-18).
Cole Ferguson led the way again for the Pioneers, as he swept his three matches at 125. In his first match against Lakeland's Matt Damp, Ferguson fought off a late comeback attempt to pick up a 7-6 win. He won by a forfeit against MSOE, before pinning Knox's Rich Thompson to finish his night.
Dylan DeShane had an impressive showing at 174 as well, picking up a pair of pins in his first two matches of the night, the first over Lakeland's Wes Colton in the first period, and the second over MSOE's Russell Carey early in the third period.
In his third match, against Knox's Greg Ventris, DeShane overcame a 2-2 deadlock in the third period, scoring a takedown with 22 second left in the match, which after an escape from Ventris, Deshane won 4-3.
Heavyweight Brandon Boyle earned decision wins in his first two matches of the night, defeating Lakeland's Rainger Rossway 3-1 and then MSOE's Caleb Staub 8-2. Against Knox's Joe Chirbas, Boyle pinned Chirbas with 10 seconds remaining in the first period to earn the sweep.
Emeric Williams at 149-pounds went 2-1 on the night, falling 6-3 to Lakeland's Juan Diaz, but then bounced back to score a major decision against MSOE's Tre House, 16-7. Williams received a forfeit against Knox.
Trent Larson also went 2-1 on the night, scoring victories over MSOE's Pete Koostra (8-6 decision) and a first-round pin over Knox's Aaron Hoover.
Bryant Etherton at 149-pounds went 2-1 on the night, scoring a 6-4 victory over MSOE's Jonah Morozinsky and a first-round pin of Knox's Ruben Villalobos.
Devin Johnson split a pair of matches at 184. After falling behind to Lakeland's Eddie Terres, Johnson scored three points in the third period to score a 3-1 win. Johnson fell to MSOE's Austin Bellile 7-5.
The UW-Platteville Quad was also Senior Night for the Pioneers, as the team honored the five seniors on the team. Those seniors were former national qualifier Mack Drees, Mike Harman, Austin Holland, Johnson and Nathan Schmitz.
The Pioneers return to the mat on February 1 at the Duhawk Open hosted by Loras College.
