Pioneers wrestle at the Loras Open.

This past weekend, Loras College held their annual Loras Open wrestling individual meet. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville had a handful of individuals attend the meet in the first week of the season. The Pioneers had to work hard to place, because 2011 NAIA National Champions, Grandview College, had participating wrestlers working the mats.  Division I University of Wisconsin-Madison and Division II Upper Iowa University also had competing wrestlers at the meet, keeping the Pioneers on their toes. The Pioneers worked hard all day, leaving the meet with one wrestler taking a place on the medals stand. Cole Ferguson, freshman from New Lenox, Ill. weighing in at 125 lbs, walked off the mat with a fourth place finish. The Pioneers used the day as a learning experience in preparation for their upcoming WIAC home meet against UW-Whitewater at 7:00 p.m. on November 8.
