Fish's title helps Pioneers place fifth
Five of UW-Platteville's 10 designated varsity wrestlers, including 133-pound champion Allen Fish, placed in the top six, leading the Pioneers to fifth place in the 11-school Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational Saturday.
Fish, seeded third, won his first three matches with a pin and two shutouts. He received a forfeit in the final because he was matched with teammate Ross George. Wrestling as a wild-card and seeded ninth, George also won three matches. Fish took the forfeit to help the Pioneers accumulate more team points.
UW-Oshkosh won the team title with 134, followed by Central with 129.5, St. Olaf 102.5, MSOE 84.5, and UW-Platteville 72.
Mack Drees won three matches at 125 pounds, but lost a 9-8 decision in the championship to place second. Matt Scott was fourth at 184 pounds, while Robert Bennett (149) and Peter Crocco (157) were sixth for Coach Chris Walter's team. Among the wild-card entries, Nick Dobbs was sixth at 174.
