Three Pioneers Achieve Personal Bests at Midwest Region Classic
KANSASVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team tied for ninth place out of 33 teams at the Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Links. Three Pioneers had personal best rounds while the team finished with a 36-hole total of 656 strokes.
KANSASVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team tied for ninth place out of 33 teams at the Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Links. Three Pioneers had personal best rounds while the team finished with a 36-hole total of 656 strokes.
UW-Platteville sat in 16th place after one round and a team score of 337 stokes. The Pioneers had a strong second day shooting 319 which moved them up seven places, the largest jump of any team in the tournament. UW-Whitewater won the event with a score of 623 strokes.
Freshman Danielle Bruecker shot a personal best 78 strokes on Friday and did it again on Saturday for 36-hole score of 156. Bruecker finished in the top-10 and tied for ninth place as an individual.
Sophomore Taylor Swalve shot 84 on Friday and shaved the score down to 80 on Saturday for a total of 164 strokes.
Junior Jada Chang opened the invite with 91 strokes on Friday, but finished strong with a personal best of 78 on Saturday for a 36-hole score of 169.
Keeping in trend with the rest of the team, Madison Berg and Josie Alm also improved their scores on the second day. Berg shot 88 on Friday and 83 on Saturday for 171 strokes and Alm combined rounds of 87 and 85 for 172 strokes
Freshman Gabriella Ziegler competed as an individual and shot a personal best 85 on Friday followed by a round of 94 for a total of 179 strokes which tied the Pioneer for 116th of 194 competing individuals.
Junior Nicole Sedam competed and finished in 148th place after a low round of 92 on Friday and 98 on Saturday for a total of 190 strokes.
Up next, the Pioneers head to Stevens Point on Saturday, September 30 for the Mad Dawg Invite.
