Pioneers take second at Highland Championship
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s golf team opened the Fall 2023 season with a second place finish at Augustana College’s Highland Championship. The Pioneers had a strong first day Friday moving into second place with 321 strokes and finished Saturday with 332 for a 36-hole team score of 653.

Host Augusta led the pool of 11 teams with a team score of 605.
Senior Josie Alm led the way for the Pioneers shooting 74 on day one and 86 on day two for total of 160, tying for sixth as an induvial.
Sophomore Taylor Swalve had personal best 80 on Saturday after shooting 83 the day before taking ninth place as an individual.
Sophomore Madison Berg combined rounds of 82 and 83 for a two-day total of 165. Freshman Danielle Bruecker tied for 12th alongside Berg with rounds of 82 and 83. Rounding out the five Pioneers was Junior Nicole Sedam who shot 87 and 96 to tie for 43rd.
Competing as individuals, Junior Emma Cage combined rounds of 87 and 86 to finish tied for 23rd (87,86), junior Jada Chang finished 42nd with 182 strokes (86,96) and sophomore Morgan Cooley shot 91 and 92 to tie for 43rd.
Next up, the Pioneers will turn around quickly for the Clarke Invitation on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Galena, Ill.
