PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Markie Ash of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team earned All-WIAC Second Team honors for the 2022-23 season the conference announced on Monday.
After being named the Judy Kruckman Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete this fall, Ash secured a spot on the All-WIAC list for the third time in her Pioneers career. The senior was tabbed First Team in 2021-22 and was Second Team in 2019-20.
Across nine tournaments and 16 rounds this season, Ash posted a stroke average of 80.3, the second-best of her three-year career. Ash matched her career low of 73 strokes on April 29 at the Augustana Viking Invitational and collected a pair of individual victories on the year at the Loras Invite on September 19 and the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on October 2. At the WIAC Championships in the fall, Ash placed ninth out of 77 golfers with a three-day total of 245.
The team was determined by using a combination of the WIAC Championship results from the fall (50 percent) and the last Golfstat Adjusted Scoring Average rankings (50 percent) prior to the NCAA Division III Championship. A player must have completed a minimum of eight rounds in order to be considered for the All-Conference Team.
