PLATTEVILLE, Wis.— UW-Platteville's Stephanie Baribeau, a senior from Cameron, Wisconsin, has been named to the 2016 All-WIAC Women’s Golf Team, garnering second team honors.
Lauren Francis, a junior from Waterman, Illinois, earned a spot on the all-sportsmanship team.
Baribeau had a stellar fall campaign, finishing with an 18-hole stroke average of 82.3, besting her average from 2015. In addition, Baribeau’s season included three top ten individual finishes, including a tournament victory at the Millikan Fall Classic in Illinois.
The senior leaves behind an illustrious career at the UW-Platteville. She was named to the All-WIAC team three times (second team in 2014, first team in 2015) and has the only sub-par round in Platteville history (71, 1-under at the conference meet in 2014, tying the all-time conference low score at the tournament). Baribeau also holds the 54-hole scoring record for Platteville, set in 2015.
Golf coach Peter Reif had nothing but praise for Baribeau when asked about her latest accolade. Reif notes her dedication, saying that “it was very normal to see Steph studying in the van to and from tournaments.” Reif also states that “Steph is very quiet and humble about her accomplishments, and post-round she would most likely talk to you about her misses, not her makes.”
Baribeau is a civil engineering major, with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 in her time at Platteville. "We applaud and appreciate her time and effort as a Pioneer,” Reif said.
Frances, a graduate from Indian Creek High School, golfed in a pair of meets as an individual participant. She is majoring in agriculture education.
