Golf places 5th after Day 1 of WIAC Championship
The UW-Platteville golf team ended the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship in fifth-place on Friday at the Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa, Wisconsin.
NEKOOSA, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville golf team ended the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship in fifth-place on Friday at the Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa, Wisconsin.
The Pioneers tallied a 367, and are five strokes behind fourth-place UW-Oshkosh. UW-Stout leads the field after the first 18 holes with 334 (+46), followed by UW-Eau Claire with 339.
Individually, sophomore Stephanie Baribeau is tied for 14th after a round of 89 (+17), followed by junior Taylor Egnarski with a 90, good for 17th-place. Freshman Rachel Hopkins carded a 92 (+20), while sophomore Sydney Kilcoin recorded a 96, good for 27th-place. Senior Katie Gregorich was the Pioneers final scorer, as she carded a 99 (+27).
The Pioneers will play the second round of the WIAC Championship on Saturday.
