Golf primed for WIAC Championship
UW-Platteville women's golf team is all set for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship that will take place at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. The 54-hole championship begins on Friday, Oct. 3 and a winner will be crowned on Sunday, Oct. 5, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be conducted in May, at Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team is all set for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship that will take place at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. The 54-hole championship begins on Friday, Oct. 3 and a winner will be crowned on Sunday, Oct. 5, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be conducted in May, at Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Pioneers have three players averaging under-90, junior Taylor Egnarski, and sophomores Stephanie Baribeau and Sydney Kilcoin.
Egnarski is averaging 89.88, and recorded a season best of 84 on the final day of the Tournament on the Border.
Baribeau has been the Pioneers most consistent player and is averaging an 83.63. In the four tournaments the Pioneers have competed in, Baribeau has finished in the top-20 every time out with her best finish of fifth-place coming at the Viterbo Invitational. She has carded a season-low 81 twice, first at the Viterbo Invtie and then last week at the Mad Dawg Invite.
Kilcoin has placed in the top-20 twice this fall and is averaging 88.13. In the last two weeks, she has finished strong in the last two weeks, carding a pair of 84s on her final round.
The WIAC Championship will start at noon with a shotgun start on Friday.
