Golf finishes sixth at Mad Dawg Invite
The UW-Platteville women's golf team shot 12 strokes better on the final day of the Mad Dawg Invitational to finish sixth out of 11 teams on Sunday in Stevens Piont, Wis.
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team shot 12 strokes better on the final day of the Mad Dawg Invitational to finish sixth out of 11 teams on Sunday in Stevens Piont, Wis.
The Pioneers totaled a 354 on the Sunday, which was 12 strokes better than their opening round of 366. UW-Platteville's strong finish moved the Pioneers up one spot on the leader board to sixth-place. Conference foe UW-Stout won the invitational and shot a 638 (+54).
Individually, sophomore Taylor Egnarski had a very consistent weekend and carded a 173 (+27) with an 86 on the first 18 then an 87 on Sunday, tied for 16th. Freshman Sydney Kilcoin improved by 10 strokes with an 85 on her final round and tied for 26th (180). Fellow freshman Stephanie Baribeau had a much better second day shooting an 88 after a 95 to open her weekend and finished tied for 30th (183). Junior Katie Gregorich finished in 33rd with a score of 184 (+38) while Ashley Morales tied for 51st with a 203 (+57).
The Pioneers will end thier fall season at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday through Sunday at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekossa, Wis.
