Pioneers Finish Fifth at 2012 Mad Dog Invite
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team
finished fifth at the 2012 Mad Dawg Invite after posting a
tournament-best improvement of 30 strokes in Sunday's final round.
UW-Platteville finished the tournament with a two-day total of 712
(371-341).
A pair of the key contributors to the improvement for the Pioneers
were freshman Taylor Egnarkski and senior Kellsey
Welter, who tied for 11th with a +26, 172. Welter lowered her
score on Sunday by 12 strokes. Senior Kelsey
Lieving finished 21st after shooting 10 strokes better with a
178 (94-84), +32.
Brit McNett-Emmerich of UW-Stout won the individual title with a
+7, 153 (76-77) en route to leading the Blue Devils to the team
title as well.
Pioneer sophomore Katie
Gregorich closed out her tournament with a 93 for two-day total
of 190 (97-93), +44. Junior Stacy
Heiling wrapped up the tournament with a 107 for a two-day
total of 218 (111-107), +72.
The Pioneers will wrap up the fall with its participation at the
WIAC Championship at the Bull's Eye Country Club in Wisconsin
Rapids, Wisconsin. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will get
underway on Friday, October 5th.
