Pioneers Make 23-Stroke Improvement in Final Round of UW-Oshkosh Invitational
Sparked by a 23-stroke improvement in Sunday's final round, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team tied for third at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational at the Oshkosh Country Club.
The Pioneers, as a team, shot a final round 379 for a two-day total of 771 (392-379) to share third-place honors with host UW-Oshkosh. WIAC rival UW-Whitewater won the team title with a 702 (342-360) in the eight-team field.
Kelsey Lieving (pictured) was the lone Pioneer in the top 10 with a tied for seventh-place finish with a 179 (87-92). Teammate Kellsey Welter move into the top 20 with an 11-stroke improvement on Sunday with a 189 (100-89) to share 16th place.
Stacy Heiling tied for 27th with a 201 (99-102), Taylor Egnarski was 30th after a 10-stroke improvement with a 202 (106-96) and Katie Gregorich was 49th with a 232 (114-118) to round out the UW-Platteville lineup.
Next on the schedule for the Pioneers is a trip to the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic, Sept. 15-16 at Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois.
