Pioneers in Fifth After Day Two of WIAC Golf Championship
Kelsey Lieving and Kellsey Welter share 13th place honors after the first 36 holes of the 2011 WIAC Golf Championship to lead the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team. With a 36-hole total of 175 from both Lieving and Welter, the Pioneers are in fifth place with a 716 (359-357).
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire holds a commanding advantage with a 36-hole total of 647 for a 38-stroke lead over its closest competitor. The Blugolds have four golfers in the top six to lead the field. Mary Welch of UW-Stevens Point is the individual leader with a 36-hole total of 157 (79-78) for a two-stroke lead over Catherine Wagner of UW-Eau Claire.
Pioneer senior Ellyn Subak lowered her score by five strokes in Saturday's second round with an 89 for a two-day total of 183. Subak is tied for 24th with fellow senior Kerrie Liske. Katie Gregorich is 47th with a 210 (106-104) to round out the UW-Platteville lineup.
Individuals Kristie Waynick is tied for 49th with a 222 (116-106), Brittany Rogness and Stacy Heiling are tied for 51st with 227 and Ashley Morales is 54th with a 247 (122-125).
Sunday's final round gets underway at 10 a.m.
