UW-Platteville in Fourth After Day One of WIAC Golf Championship
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team is in fourth place after Friday's opening round of the WIAC Golf Championship in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
The Pioneers find themselves just three strokes back of third-place UW-Whitewater and are led by Kelsey Lieving, who is tied for ninth and Kellsey Welter, who is 11th. Lieving and Welter shot opening rounds of 86 and 87, respectively to lead the Pioneers, who posted a 359.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is the first day leader with a 328 and holds a 19-stroke lead into the second round on Saturday. The Blugolds are led by Catherine Wagner, who shot an 80 and is in second place. Mary Welch of UW-Stevens Point is the individual leader by a stroke after posting a seven-over par 79.
The Pioneers' Kerrie Liske shot a 92 with two birdies and is tied for 25th, Ellyn Subak is tied for 30th after posting a 94 and Katie Gregorich is 45th after recording a 106. Individuals Brittany Rogness is tied for 49th (114), Kristie Waynick is 51st (116), Stacy Heiling is 52nd (118) and Ashley Morales is 53rd (122).
