Pioneers Take Second at Clarke Fall Invitational
Led by the third-place finish of Kellsey Welter, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team finished second at the Clarke Fall Invitational on Sunday.
Welter led the Pioneers with an 88, including a front nine 45 and back nine 43. She finished a stroke behind individual champion Bailee Goodfellow of Mount Mercy, who won a playoff over her sister, Madison.
Kerrie Liske shared sixth-place honors with a 91 (44-47) and Kelsey Lieving tied for 13th with a 95 (49-46). To round out the UW-Platteville lineup, Ellyn Subak tied for 20th with a 99 and Katie Gregorich finished 34th with a 111. As individuals, Stacy Heiling and Brittany Rogness finished 33rd (110) and 36th (121), respectively.
As a team, the Pioneers shot a 373, nine strokes back of tournament champion Mount Mercy, who posted a 364.
The Pioneers will next wrap up the fall at the WIAC Championships, October 7-9 (Friday through Sunday) at Bull's Eye Country Club in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
