Pioneers move home match
After the loss of irrigation pumps at the Platteville Golf Course and Country Club, this weekend's UW-Platteville Invitational has been moved to the House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green.
The tournament will be held on the 18-hole Springs Golf Course, designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The course winds along the deep valley floor, offering spectacular sight lines and challenging holes.
Augustana, Clarke, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point will join the Pioneers in the Saturday/Sunday tournament. Augustana and UW-Platteville are expected to field JV squads as well.
The Pioneers were 15th among 24 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic, played at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
Kellsey Welter turned in the UW-Platteville top performance, finishing 47th among the 130 golfers. She shot an 84 Saturday and 86 Sunday. Tricia Pawelski was one stroke behind her, finishing in 52nd. Kelsey Lieving was 61st at 173, Ellyn Subak 81st at 179, and Kerrie Liske 84th at 180. Helen Wilson shot 194th to finish 111th as an individual competitor.
