The University of
Wisconsin-Platteville women’s golf team extended its first
round lead from 20 strokes to 37 en route to winning the Clarke
Spring Invitational on Sunday. The Pioneers shot a
second round 360 for a two-day total of 708 (348-360), 37 strokes
ahead of host Clarke, who posted a 745 (368-377).
Kelsey Lieving was the top individual for the Pioneers
with a second-place finish, shooting a 167 (84-83). She shot two
birdies and had 15 pars over the course of 36 holes. Dena Hugen
Stevens of William Penn edged Lieving for the individual title by
one stroke, shooting a 166 (85-81).
Right behind her was Ellyn Subak, who
finished third, with a 173 (83-90). Kellsey
Welter was tied for sixth with a 180
(88-92). Tricia Pawelski was 11th with a 188
(93-95) and Helen Wilson was 17th with a 198
(100-98).
