The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team began its spring season on Friday at the 2011 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in Jeklyll Island, Georgia.

The Pioneers shot an opening round 358 and are 14th out of 21 teams at the nation’s largest Division III tournament as well as ten of the top 25 teams mentioned in a recent March GolfStat poll.

Kellsey Welter is tied for 29th to lead the Pioneers with an opening round 84, followed by Ellyn Subak and Kelsey Lieving, who shot an 89 (tied for 56th) and 90 (tied for 63rd) , respectively. Kerrie Liske andTricia Pawelski shot a 95 (tied for 86th) and 97 (tied for 93rd), respectively to round out the UW-Platteville lineup.
