The University of Wisconsin-Platteville head coach Kelly McNiff announced today the hiring of Marissa Delsman as assistant women's basketball coach.
"I am extremely excited to add Marissa to the UW-Platteville Women's Basketball Family. I was impressed with Marissa's knowledge of the game, her desire to see student-athletes develop, and her dedication to the coaching profession. Her familiarity with the WIAC and overall coaching experiences will be tremendous assets to our players, staff, and program as a whole, " said McNiff.
No stranger to the WIAC, Delsman comes to UW-Platteville after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at UW-Stevens Point where she was involved in all aspects of operation for the program including player development, scouting reports, travel and academic progress monitoring. She was also an intern with the UW-Whitewater women's basketball team during the 2019-20 season. Prior to the Pointers, she served as a graduate assistant coach at Alverno College.
In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, Delsman has over three years of coaching at the AAU and high school levels. From 2019-22 she was a coach for the Wisconsin Lakers AAU team in Southeastern Wisconsin. Delsman also spent time coaching at Waukesha West and Green Bay Southwest high schools.
Delsman's own collegiate career included playing on the women's basketball and volleyball teams at UW-Waukesha.
"I'm so excited to join the family here at UW-Platteville and I'm beyond grateful to Coach McNiff for this opportunity," said Delsman.
The Waukesha, Wisconsin native earned an associate degree in arts and sciences from UW-Waukesha, a bachelor's degree from UW-Green Bay, and earned her master's degree in education from UW-Whitewater.
