Pioneers vs. Pointers

Nationally ranked UW-Stevens Point held UW-Platteville to three first-half baskets and cruised to a 66-45 Wednesday on Bo Ryan Court.
The Pointers, ranked 24th by D3hoops.com, led 38-9 at the half. UWSP extended the margin to 64-23 with 5:52 to play before the Pioneers forced several turnovers and closed the game with a 22-2 run.
UWSP improved to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers slipped to 9-6, 2-4.
Britta Peterson made 9-10 from the field and led the Pointers with 18 points in 16 minutes, while Ashley Averkamp added 12. UWSP shot 52 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Pioneers 45-23.
Charity Stotmeister scored 17 points and made a game-high 7 steals for the Pioneers. Stacia Nemitz and Ashley Wolf added 9 points apiece.
