Pioneers fall to #16 Falcons

UW-Platteville played a nationally-ranked team for the second time in four days, and the Pioneers came away with their second loss.

UW-River Falls, ranked 18th in the D3hoops.com poll and 16th in the coaches poll, beat the visiting Pioneers 88-59 and re-claimed first place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Falcons improved to 14-2 overall and 6-2 in the WIAC, while the Pioneers dropped to 9-7, 2-5.

The Pioneers held a brief 5-2 lead, but the Falcons soon went up 18-8 and never trailed again. UWRF held a 40-29 advantage at the half.

Stacia Nemitz led the Pioneers with 18 points, while Charity Stotmeister scored 14 and Claire Poad 10. UWP made 22-28 from the line, led by Nemitz with 9-10.

Taylor House made 9-12 from the field to score 21 for the Falcons, while Brittany Gregorich added 13. The Falcons made 50 percent from the field and held the Pioneers to 34 percent, including 1-13 from three-point range.
