PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- In her final regular season home game, University of Wisconsin-Platteville forward Maiah Domask may have saved her best for last. The fifth year senior could not be stopped by visiting University of Wisconsin-River Falls down the stretch as she registered an eye-popping stat line that included 31 points (11-17 FG), 15 rebounds, and seven assists as part of a 66-63 win over the Falcons. The first half of the game had a different look with the Falcons being the aggressors, putting up identical 17-15 totals in each quarter to head into the halftime locker room with a 34-30 advantage. The Pioneers struggled containing UWRF guard Jenna Zeman who scored 19 of her of team's 34 first half points. While River Falls held just a slim advantage at the break in offensive rebounds (6-5) the Falcons took full advantage of its extra opportunities, outscoring the Pioneers 11-2 on second chance points.
Platteville's defense clamped down in the third quarter. The Pioneers only allowed 8 Falcons points while Domask and fellow post player Taylor Gilbert (Sr./Kingston, Ill.) combined to chip in nine of Platteville's 13 points, giving their team a 43-42 lead heading into the fourth.
That final quarter belonged to Domask. Playing in front of friends and family on Senior Day, the conference leader in scoring and rebounding took over. Domask scored 16 points in the final frame alone including 5-7 FG and 6-7 from the free throw line. Down 56-52 with 5:27 remaining, Domask scored six of the Pioneers' next eight points, capped off by a 3-point play to bring the game back to even, 60-60 with 1:35 left. On its next possession, the Pioneers went to Domask again and once again she delivered with a layup on the right side to give Platteville a 62-60 lead with under a minute left to play. Domask and Aspyn Stewart (Sr. / Stockton, Ill.) combined to knock down 4-4 from the free throw line to secure the win.
Gilbert joined Domask in scoring double figures, pouring in 13 on 4-7 FG and 5-6 FT. After surrendering 11 second-chance points in the first half, Platteville only allowed two second chance points the rest of the game.
