Pioneers unable to close No. 16 Blugolds halftime lead
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team was unable to close in on No. 16 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s nine-point lead at the half and fell 65-56 Monday night in the rescheduled Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Bo Ryan Court.

The Blugolds improve to 15-4 and 6-2 in the league while the Pioneers drop to 9-9 and 2-6 in the WIAC.
UW-Platteville returned from the break at the half and shot a game-high 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the field in the third quarter to close in on UW-Eau Claire's lead, 39-37 with 5:08 remaining in the quarter. The Blugolds took their lead back to double digits in the final frame and benefited in the end scoring 17 points off the Pioneers' 12 turnovers.
The WIAC's leading scorer, Maiah Domask (Sr./Waupun, Wis.) continued to shine and added another double-double to the books with a game-high 18 points and 17 rebounds. Three Blugolds finished in double-figures with Jessie Ruden leading the way with 16.
The Pioneers shot 31.1 percent (19-of-61) from the field making 28.6 percent (8-of-28) from three-point territory. UW-Eau Claire shot 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from the floor and hit 33.3 percent (7-of-21) of three-pointers. From the foul line, UW-Platteville made 10-of-13 (76.9 percent) while UW-Eau Claire made 6-of-8 (75 percent).
UW-Platteville will look to bounce back on Wednesday night when the Pioneers travel to UW-La Crosse with game time is set for 7 p.m.
