Pioneers earn season's first victory
The UW-Platteville women's basketball team earned its first victory of the young season, beating St. Olaf 68-51 on the final day of the UW-River Falls Classic.

The UW-Platteville women's basketball team earned its first victory of the young season, beating St. Olaf 68-51 on the final day of the UW-River Falls Classic.
The Pioneers scored the last seven points of the first quarter to lead 18-10 and never trailed after that. Coach Megan Wilson's squad led 32-20 at the half and extended the margin to 49-32 after three periods.
Morgan Horstman paced a balanced attack with 15 points; Allison Prestegaard scored 13; and Lexis Macomber came off the bench to total 10 points. Senior Amber Williams, the 15-time track and field all-American who is out for basketball for the first time, had nine points and eight rebounds. The Pioneers held a 55-33 advantage on the boards and forced 23 Oles turnovers.
Keegan Mulvihill paced St. Olaf (0-3) with 14 points, and Makenna Ash scored 13.
The 1-1 Pioneers play at Luther Tuesday at 7 p.m.
