Horstman, Macomber lead Pioneers in Loss Against Washington
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team was defeated at home 89-58 by the undefeated Washington University (Missouri) Bears Saturday. The loss dropped the Pioneers to 2-5 on the season.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team was defeated at home 89-58 by the undefeated Washington University (Missouri) Bears Saturday. The loss dropped the Pioneers to 2-5 on the season.
The Pioneers were led by sophomores Morgan Horstman (Bangor, Wis.), who scored 12 points, and Lexis Macomber (Lanark, Ill.), who scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Bears were led by Madeline Homoly, who scored 24 points and brought down 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers were able to keep the game close in the first quarter, as they trailed by five at the end of the first quarter, but a strong second and third quarters by the Bears put the game out of reach. Washington University ended the game by outscoring the Pioneers 21-9 in the fourth quarter. The win moves Washington University to 6-0 on the season.
The Pioneers will next play on the road against Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill., on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. Monmouth is 1-4 on the season.
