Women’s basketball splits 1-1 at St. Norbert Tournament
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team competed at the St. Norbert College tournament this past weekend, defeating Silver Lake College on Friday and falling to host St. Norbert on Saturday in De Pere, Wis. The Pioneers are now 1-2 on the season.

DE PERE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team competed at the St. Norbert College tournament this past weekend, defeating Silver Lake College on Friday and falling to host St. Norbert on Saturday in De Pere, Wis. The Pioneers are now 1-2 on the season.
On Friday, the Pioneers took on the Lakers for their second game of the season. Junior center Elisa Bliderback led the way for the Pioneers, scoring 20 points and recording eight rebounds in the win. The Pioneers dominated in almost every category, including recording a 71.4 free throw percentage and 67 total rebounds, including 30 offensive, against the Lakers. The Pioneers' rebound total is the second most in UW-Platteville women's basketball history in a single game.
After leading 30-24 at the half, the Pioneers battled their way to a 57-40 lead at the end of the third quarter.
With a made layup by Bliderback to start the fourth quarter, the Pioneers carried their momentum through the rest of the game to take the 75-51 win over Silver Lake.
On Saturday, the Pioneers struggled to gain momentum in the first quarter against St. Norbert, and found themselves down 23-11 to start the second quarter. After outscoring the Green Knights in the second quarter, the Pioneers brought the score within ten going into halftime.
After continuing to close in on the Knight's in the third, cutting the lead to five, the Pioneers wouldn't get closer than 10 in the fourth quarter, and ended up falling to the Green Knights 60-76.
Freshman Morgan Horstman played well for the Pioneers, scoring 11 points and recording five rebounds in the loss. As a team, the Pioneers scored 15 second-chance points to St. Norbert's nine, and also outscored St. Norbert in bench points with 27 to their 16.
The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 to take on the Norse of Luther College at 7 p.m.
