EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- A tough night shooting for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team doomed the Pioneers as they fell, 68-42, at UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday.
Alyssa Krajco went 7-for-8 from the free throw line to lead the Pioneers with 11 points. Keeley Schulz and Stacy Clark each added seven points apiece.
The Blugolds made eight of their first 12 shots to take a 19-9 lead just over seven minutes into the game. UWEC held on to a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the half and took a 34-20 lead into the locker room. The Blugolds had a 10-3 points off turnovers advantage and a 10-2 edge on points in the paint. The Pioneers dominated the offensive glass in the first half with 10 boards, but only shot 20 percent from the field.
The Pioneer continued to struggle offensively in the second half as the Blugolds held on to a 15-plus point lead for the final 15 minutes of the game. UWEC recorded its largest lead of the game, 68-41, with 2:43 left to play.
The Pioneers ended their night shooting just over 25 percent from the floor, while the Blugolds finished shooting nearly 51 percent.
UW-Platteville returns to Bo Ryan Court on Saturday as the Pioneers host UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
