Women's Basketball beats Lake Forest
The UW-Platteville women’s basketball defeated Lake Forest, 74-68, on Sunday on the final day of the JustAGame Holiday Classic in the Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball defeated Lake Forest, 74-68, on Sunday on the final day of the JustAGame Holiday Classic in the Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
Juniors Stacy Clark and Alyssa Krajco each scored 19 points. Clark grabbed seven rebounds and was 7-for-12 from the field. Krajco was a rebound away from her fourth double-double of the season. Junior Rachel Cropp went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc for 13 points, while senior Melissa Carmody rounded out the Pioneer double-digit scorers with 12.
Lake Forest's Danielle Canulli netted a game-high 20 points and Sam Schuring added 18 points.
The Pioneers and the Foresters were tied up at 6-6, but a five-minute 9-2 run gave UW-Platteville a 15-8 lead. The Pioneers outscored LF 13-4 off turnovers to take a 35-23 lead into halftime.
UW-Platteville stayed in control for the majority of the second half and held a double-digit lead for the most of the half. The Foresters managed to cut the Pioneers' lead to eight, 66-58, with just over three minutes to go, but UW-Platteville made its free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
UW-Platteville moves to 8-4 and are now on a four-game winning streak.
The Pioneers return to conference play on Saturday, January 4 at UW-Superior with tip off set for 1 p.m.
