Bio

Dave Kamps is entering his sixth season with the Pioneers. As an alumni of the UW-Platteville track and field program, Kamps was welcomed back to join the team coaching the throwing event group in the 2018-2019 season. Kamps coached National Champion Brianna Leahy along with multiple All-Americans and WIAC Champions.

Kamps has been an instrumental part of developing the throws event group to continue the tradition of excellence at UW-Platteville, bringing championship experience to the throws at UW-Platteville. Kamps made history for the Pioneer track and field team as he was the first All-American named in program history. During his time on the UW-Platteville men's track and field team, he qualified to four NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He was a 4-time All-American in the discus, finishing in fourth in 1985, third in 1986 and 1987, and fourth in 1988. In 2009, Kamps was inducted into the UW-Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame.
