Vanek Breaks School 400m Record
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams sent athletes to a pair of last chance meets on Saturday, with several heading to UW-La Crosse and other going to Wartburg. A new school record in the 400m highlighted the efforts by the Pioneers on Saturday.

Senior Spencer Vanek broke the UW-Platteville school record in the 400m at the UW-La Crosse Qualifier, running a time of 48.54 seconds to place third overall in the event. His time shattered the previous record of 48.89 seconds set by Alec Burcham back in 2019.
Vanek also competed with the 4x400m relay team that consisted of him, James Ketterer, Owen Wise, and Zach Zenner. The quartet posted a time of 3:18.47 to finish third.
At the Wartburg last chance meet, junior Caden Schneider placed 11th in the 3000m at 8:35.82. In the 5000m, sophomore Zachary Sporaa took ninth behind a time of 15:07.18.
Senior Daniel Inyang competed in the high jump at Wartburg, finishing sixth at 1.90m. Senior Nicholas Walechka took sixth in the men's shot put with a toss of 14.79m, while senior Brenna Noon was seventh in the womens' shot put at 13.01m.
The Pioneers will send qualifier to next week's NCAA National Indoor meet, which will be held in Rochester, N.Y.
