Pioneers Win Eight Events At Sol Butler Classic
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Sol Butler Classic on Friday evening, hosted by the University of Dubuque inside the Chlapaty Rec Center. The Pioneers women’s team won the meet with 154 points, while the men finished second with 125.5 points.

Men's Highlights
Junior Elijah Wade was the winner in the 800m, running a time of 1:57.67 to win the event by nearly two seconds. Junior Caden Schneider came in third at 1:59.78, and junior Paul Treiber (2:00.21) and sophomore Phillip Dart (2:00.27) placed fourth and fifth respectively.
Freshman Cal Wrasman posted a new season-best in the 60m hurdles at 8.56 seconds, which was good for third place. He advanced to the finals in the event after running an 8.75 in the preliminary round.
Senior Daniel Inyang competed in the 60m finals and finished fourth at 7.11 seconds. Inyang also won the high jump, matching his personal best of 2.03m.
Freshman Mason Paar claimed the top spot in the 3000m, posting a time of 8:58.12 to win the event by over four seconds. The time was a nearly 15 second personal best for Paar.
Four Pioneers scored in the mile, led by sophomore Spencer Thiry's fourth-place finish in 4:24.24. Sophomore Matt Tippel (4:24.67), freshman Hayden Treibold (4:24.86), junior Justin Behnke (4:25.30), and senior Korbin Eisler (4:25.31) finished right behind to round out the top eight in the event.
In the shot put, senior Nicholas Walechka finished fourth with a throw of 15.67m on his fifth attempt of the day. Sophomore Cohen Pfohl was one spot behind for fifth at 15.55m.
Freshman Cale Ledergerber placed fourth in the long jump at 6.39m. Sophomore Trevor Schulz led the Pioneers in the pole vault at 4.40m, which tied for second place. Freshman Brandyn Beahm also scored, tying with five other competitors for fourth at 4.10m.
The Pioneers also sent their top 4x400m relay team to the UW-La Crosse Caged Eagle Invite on Friday afternoon. The quartet of Spencer Vanek, Owen Wise, James Ketterer, and Zach Zenner ran a season-best time of 3:18.82 to win the event.
Women's Highlights
Senior Madison Ahrens won the 200m, running a time of 26.44 seconds to win by a slim margin of one-hundredth of a second. Senior Kayla Lipsey crossed the line at 26.60 to place fourth in the same event. Lipsey also advanced to the finals in the 60m hurdles and placed third with a time of 9.60 seconds.
Senior Shannon Wulf won the long jump while reaching a new personal best of 5.11m on her third attempt of the meet. In the triple jump, senior Lizzie Andrews also set a new PR while winning the event. She posted a mark of 10.72m on her sixth and final attempt to jump past several other competitors to win.
Sophomore Hailey Campbell won the high jump for the fourth time this season, reaching a mark of 1.69m.
Four Pioneers advanced to the finals in the 60m, with sophomore Elianna Dalamangas taking second place at 7.99 seconds. Ahrens was fourth at 8.08 seconds, while senior Shannon Wulf (8.20) and freshman Haley Stannard (8.26) finished sixth and seventh respectively. Dalamangas also placed third in the triple jump at 10.62m.
UW-Platteville had three runners score in the 800m, led by junior Leah Digmann's personal best time of 2:18.90 for second place. Sophomore Megan Hageman placed fourth in 2:23.27 and sophomore Kendra Downing came in sixth at 2:28.98. In the 3000m run, freshman Elsa Temples finished second with a time of 11:22.33.
Sophomore Evelyn Troxel and freshman Kaitlyn Lisafeld tied for second place in the pole vault, as both reached 3.20m.
Senior Brenna Noon reached a mark of 12.87m on her final throw of the day in the shot put to earn a fourth-place finish. She also finished seventh in the weight throw at 14.60m. Junior Samantha Klann was the Pioneers top finisher in the weight throw at 14.78m, which placed fifth.
The Pioneers also sent junior Izzy Peterson to the UW-La Crosse Caged Eagle Invite on Friday, where she competed in the 200m. Peterson won the event while running a school record time of 25.13 seconds.
Up Next
The Pioneers will head to the 2025 WIAC Indoor Championships next Friday, February 28. The conference meet will be held this year at UW-Stevens Point.
