Pioneers Post Strong Marks At Big Dawg Invite
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Big Dawg Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon. The men finished second with 158 points, while the women also earned a second-place mark with 143 points.

Men's Highlights
UW-Platteville claimed the top four spots in the mile, led by junior Caden Schneider's time of 4:19.26. Junior Joshua Stone (4:21.66), sophomore Zachary Sporaa (4:21.75), and sophomore Spencer Thiry (4:24.42) rounded out the top half of the scorers in the event.
Senior Daniel Inyang came in second in the high jump with a leap of 1.96m. Freshman Gavin Pinnow was sixth at 1.81m, while senior Kaden Piechocki reached the same height to finish seventh.
Sophomore Cohen Pfohl threw 15.73m in the shot put to earn second place in the event. Senior Nicholas Walechka finished third at 15.64m, while junior Beau Kopp (14.08m) and freshman Dominc Vashkelis-Benson (13.89m) placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
Jelinek led the team in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a toss of 16.56m. Senior Andrew Cunningham took fifth at 16.17m, followed by both freshman Timothy Strebel (16.01m) and Pfohl (15.93m).
Freshman Callahan Wrasman finished sixth in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 9.01 seconds after posting an 8.69 time in the prelims to advance. Senior Spencer Vanek tallied a pair of points for the Pioneers in the 200m by running a time of 22.99 seconds to take seventh.
The pole vault saw three Pioneers score, with freshman Brandyn Beahm placing third at 4.29m. Freshman Brendan Gaertig (3.84m) and senior Kyle Lang (3.84m) rounded out the top eight in the event.
Five Pioneers finished inside the top eight in the 400m, led by Vanek's second-place time of 50.45 seconds. Senior Zach Zenner was close behind for third at 50.62, followed by sophomore Kaeden Weberpal (51.86) and freshman Owen Wise (51.91). Sophomore Andrew Zimmerman took seventh at 51.99, while junior James Ketterer came in eighth at 52.07.
Ketterer also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.39m. Freshman Wyatt Klitzman came in third at 12.61m.
In the 800m, junior Elijah Wade came in second with a time of 1:56.84. Sophomore Phillip Dart placed sixth in the same event at 2:00.14. Sophomore Paul Pfeifer competed in the 3000m, finishing seventh at 8:49.86.
The Pioneers placed two teams in the top three of the 4x400m relay, with Weberpal, Ketterer, Wise, and Zenner winning the event with a time of 3:23.08. The second team of Pinnow, Ethan Schneider, Logan Pasakarnis, and Cody Nichols came in third at 3:33.90.
Women's Highlights
Senior Hannah Fliss won the mile at the meet, finishing nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place runner to win at 5:22.65. The time was a new personal-best for Fliss, besting her previous top time of 5:22.77 in the opening indoor meet this season.
Senior Brenna Noon finished atop the field in the shot put, posting a mark of 13.07m. Sophomore Mary Lyons also scored for UW-Platteville by taking eighth at 11.40m. Noon also finished second in the weight throw at 16.39m, while sophomore Laura Weaver was right behind for third at 15.23m.
Sophomore Hailey Campbell claimed the top spot in the high jump, reaching a height of 1.64m. In the long jump, senior Shannon Wulf and freshman Braycee Nelson finished third and fourth, respectively. Wulf posted a mark of 4.92m, while Nelson was at 4.76m.
The Pioneers were well represented in the triple jump, led by senior Lizzie Andrews' second-place finish at 10.36m. Freshman Zoe James was third at 10.32m, while junior Maline Koepp took fourth at 9.80m.
Senior Margaret Rusch put together a solid time in the 400m, finishing second in the event at 1:01.69. In the 3000m, freshman Caitlin Wirth finished sixth at 11:03.77.
Three Pioneers finished in the top eight in the 800m, led by junior Leah Digmann's second-place finish in 2:25.19. Sophomore Megan Hageman placed fourth at 2:28.70, while sophomore Kendra Downing rounded out the trio with her sixth-place finish at 2:30.99.
Sophomore Elianna Dalamangas and senior Madison Ahrens each advanced to the finals in the 60m and scored for the Pioneers. Dalamangas placed fourth with a time of 8.13 seconds, while Ahrens came in sixth at 8.19. In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Danielle Mauhar took fourth, running a time of 9.84 seconds.
Ahrens later finished second in the 200m while running a time of 26.70 seconds. Freshman Skylar McIlvried placed sixth at 27.73 seconds.
Sophomore Evelyn Troxel took fourth in the pole vault at 3.08m, while junior Emma Egnoski reached the same height to earn fifth place.
The close the meet, the Pioneers 4x400m relay team of Downing, Kayla Williams, Hageman, and Ava Garrard placed second with a time of 4:24.93.
