Pioneers Compete At Wartburg Select Meet

Men's Highlights
In the shot put invitational on Friday night, senior Nicholas Walechka finished second with a PR of 15.77m. Sophomore Cohen Pfohl finished fourth with a throw of 14.95m, while junior McKade Jelinek was eighth at 14.06m.
Friday's weight throw invite saw sophomore Andrew Cunningham finish eighth at 15.14m. Four Pioneers finished top eight in the weight throw on Saturday, led by senior Samuel LaPean's third-place finish at 14.81m. Freshman Timothy Strebel placed fourth in that event at 14.64m.
Senior Daniel Inyang leapt to a mark of 1.93m in the high jump, which was good for third. Senior Kaden Piechocki took eighth in the same event with a mark of 1.83m. Junior James Ketterer finished third in the triple jump at 13.36m.
Sophomore Trevor Schulz reached 4.40m in the pole vault, earning him a third-place finish in the event. Freshman Brandyn Beahm took fifth in the same event at 3.95m.
In the 400m, senior Zach Zenner placed fifth at 50.70 seconds, while freshman Owen Wise rounded out the top eight with a time of 51.19 seconds. Junior Joshua Stone finished fifth in the 800m, running a time of 1:56.35.
The Pioneers 4x400m relay team of Spencer Vanek, Kaeden Weberpal, Ketterer, and Zenner ran strong time of 3:22.11 to finish third overall.
Junior Caden Schneider and sophomore Zach Sporaa each set new PRs in the 3000m run. Schneider finished seventh at 8:27.13, while Sporaa ran a 8:32.76 to place 11th.
Three Pioneers finished in the top five in the 5000m, led by sophomore Xander Albano's personal-best time of 15:28.97 to place third. Junior Christopher Wier also ran a PR of 15:44.64 to take fourth, while sophomore Matt Tippel was fifth at 15:48.99.
Women's Highlights
Sophomore Hailey Campbell finished second in the high jump with a season-best mark of 1.68m. Her jump placed her inside the top 10 on the NCAA DIII performance list at the time of the meet.
Junior Isabel Peterson put together a strong day on the track, winning the 200m with a time of 25.84 seconds and placing third in the 60m at 7.89 seconds. Senior Madison Ahrens also scored in the 200m behind a personal-best time of 26.74 seconds.
Freshman Caitlin Wirth claimed the top spot in the 5000m, running a time of 19:07.52. Freshman Elsa Temples also earned a top three finish in the event, posting a 20:10.74 to take third.
The Pioneers had three finish inside the top six in the pole vault, with freshman Kaitlyn Lisafeld, junior Emma Egnoski, and sophomore Evelyn Troxel all reaching a mark of 3.05m.
Senior Brenna Noon placed fifth in the shot put invitational on Friday night with a mark of 12.84m. Junior Samantha Klann was third in the Saturday's shot put event at 11.52m. Noon was also seventh in the weight throw invite at 14.92m, while sophomore Laura Weaver finished just ahead for sixth at 15.00m. Klann competed in the weight throw on Saturday, placing fourth at 14.31m.
In the 400m, senior Margaret Rusch placed fifth while running a 1:01.36. Finishing one spot behind her was senior Kayla Lipsey at 1:01.68. Junior Leah Digmann took fifth in the 800m at 2:23.30.
UW-Platteville's 4x400m relay team of Rusch, Lindsey Barnes, Zoe James, and Digmann finished fifth while running a 4:12.17.
Freshman Braycee Nelson posted a PR of 4.82m in the long jump to earn an eighth-place finish. In the triple jump, senior Lizzie Andrews (10.31m) and junior Malina Koepp (10.12) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
