Pioneers Open Indoor Season Saturday
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams began the 2025 indoor season on Saturday afternoon by hosting the UW-Eau Claire/UW-Stevens Point Triangular inside Williams Fieldhouse. The Pioneer men placed second with 71 points, while the women were also second with 56 points.

Men's Highlights
Three Pioneers scored in the 400m, led by senior Spencer Vanek's first-place finish at 50.68 seconds. Sophomore Kaeden Weberpal took fourth at 51.58 seconds, while junior James Ketterer came in sixth at 51.86.
Vanek also scored in the 200m, taking fourth behind a time of 23.01 seconds. Juniors James Ketterer (23.22) and Evan Graves (23.43) finished in the two spots right behind him to score for UW-Platteville.
Senior Zach Zenner competed in the 600m and won the event with a time of 1:24.19. A pair of freshmen in Gavin Pinnow (1:26.49) and Ethan Schneider (1:26.52) also scored in the event, taking fourth and fifth, respectively.
Ketterer also brought home points in the triple jump by taking the top spot in the event at 13.57m. Freshman Wyatt Klitzman leapt to second place in the event at 13.10m.
In the mile, junior Caden Schneider placed third behind a time of 4:17.34.
Freshman Cale Lederberger placed seventh in the 60m in his first career meet, running a time of 7.10 seconds.
Senior Daniel Inyang was one of two scorers in the high jump, taking third with a mark of 1.90m, while senior Kaden Piechocki finished fifth with the same mark, but he surpassed it on his second attempt.
Sophomore Andrew Cunningham finished third in the weight throw, reaching a mark of 16.57m on his final throw of the day. Freshman Timothy Strebel also scored in the event, with his throw of 15.88m good for sixth overall.
In the shot put, sophomore Cohen Pfohl took fourth place with a toss of 15.46m on his opening attempt of the meet. Senior Nicholas Walechka was right behind, taking fifth with a throw of 15.34m.
Sophomore Trevor Schulz placed third in the pole vault, reaching 4.28m. Freshman Brandyn Beahm came in fifth at 4.13m.
Women's Highlights
Senior Margaret Rusch won the 400m while running a time of 1:01.93. In the same event, junior Kayla Williams placed sixth with a time of 1:11.74.
Sophomore Hailey Campbell won the high jump by reaching a mark of 1.65m.
Senior Brenna Noon claimed the shot put title by throwing 13.62m on her final attempt. Sophomore Mary Lyons also scored in the event by taking fourth with a throw of 11.29m.
Two Pioneers scored in the 60m, led by freshman Haley Stannard's third-place finish at 8.09 seconds. Senior Madison Ahrens placed fifth in the event with a time of 8.15 seconds. Both runners improved upon their times in the preliminary rounds.
Senior Kayla Lipsey advanced to the 60m hurdle finals after running a time of 9.47 seconds in the qualifiers. She followed that up by posting a 9.48 time in the finals to take fifth. Lipsey also took second in the 200m with a time of 26.69 seconds. Ahrens scored in a second event as well, taking fourth in the 200m at 26.77 seconds.
Senior Lizzie Andrews led three scorers in the triple jump by posting a mark of 10.30m to finish third overall in the event. Freshman Zoe James was fifth at 9.83m, while junior Malina Koepp placed sixth at 9.77m.
In other field events, sophomore Evelyn Troxel took fifth overall in the pole vault with a mark of 3.10m. Senior Shannon Wulf was sixth in the long jump after posting a leap of 4.94m on her opening attempt, while sophomore Laura Weaver reached 15.05m in the weight throw to also earn a sixth-place finish.

The Pioneers will head to the two-day Wartburg Select meet next Friday and Saturday in Waverly, Iowa.
