Pair Of Pioneers Named Champs At Day Two Of WIAC Championships
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams concluded the 2024 WIAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday from the UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex. Both the men’s and women’s teams took sixth overall at the meet.

Men's Highlights
Two Pioneers finished on the podium in the discus, led by sophomore McKade Jelinek's second-place toss of 50.07m (164' 3") on his fourth attempt of the day. Senior Justin Eichler was right behind for third place at 48.71m (159' 10"). Eichler was later named to the Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team following the meet.
Senior Daniel Inyang placed fifth overall in the high jump, reaching a mark of 1.96m (6' 5.25") to score four points for the team.
In the 400m, junior Zach Zenner scored four points with his fifth-place finish at 48.02 seconds.
UW-Platteville's 4x100m relay team of Dylan Miller, Spencer Vanek, Carson Gold, and Chance Jampole took fifth overall with a season-best time of 41.72 seconds.
Sophomore Caden Schneider ran a new personal-best of 3:54.95 in the 1500m to finish eighth and earn a spot on the podium.
Junior Dale Yerges finished 12th overall in the decathlon with a career-high 5602 points. On day two, he took second in both the discus with a personal-best of 34.92m and 1500m at 4:52.79.
To wrap up the day, the 4x400m relay team of Vanek, Zenner, James Ketterer, and Kaeden Weberpal took third with a season-best time of 3:16.05.
Women's Highlights
Junior Brenna Noon was named the WIAC Champion in the shot put behind a season-best throw of 13.56m (44' 5.75") on her fifth toss of the day. She winning mark was under six inches further than the runner-up in the event. Sophomore Samantha Klann also competed in the shot put and placed ninth overall with a PR of 12.31m (40' 4.75").
Freshman Hailey Campbell took home first-place honors in the high jump behind a personal-best mark of 1.69m (5' 6.5"). She now moves into a three-way tie for second place in the event on the Pioneers all-time Top 10 list.
In the 400m hurdles, senior Jessica Buss set a new PR at 1:04.82 to take fourth and finish on the podium.
The Pioneers 4x100m relay team of Caitlynn Hahn, Kayla Lipsey, Alexis Healey, and Elianna Dalamangas ran new school record time of 48.45 seconds to take fifth in the event and score four points.
Freshman Elianna Dalamangas earned a podium finish in the triple jump with an eighth-place finish. She posted a mark of 11.16m (36' 7.25") on her fourth attempt of the day to score one point for the Pioneers.
The 4x400m relay team of Margaret Rusch, Kayla Lipsey, Buss, and Dalamangas finished fifth overall with a season-best time of 4:02.10.
After the meet, Lizzie Andrews was named to the Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team.
