Eichler Wins Title At Day One Of WIAC Championships
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams hosted day one of the 2024 WIAC Outdoor Championships (presented by Culver’s) on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers set several personal bests on the day and featured one conference champion in the hammer throw.

Men's Highlights
Senior Justin Eichler claimed the hammer throw title for the third consecutive year with a toss of 64.76m (212' 6") on his fifth attempt of the day. His mark was over five meters further than the runner up in the event.
Sophomore Caden Schneider set a new PR in the 3000m steeplechase to finish fourth in the event. His time of 9:08.60 was nearly eight seconds fastest than his previous personal best.
Freshman Trevor Schulz scored in the pole vault and recorded a personal best in the process at 4.74m (15' 6.5"). He placed fifth overall in the event to earn four points for the Pioneers.
Senior Caleb Christiansen tallied one point for the team in the 10000m run with his eighth-place finish at 31:01.35.
Junior Zach Zenner qualified for the finals in the 400m tomorrow afternoon with a personal-best time of 47.92 seconds. In the same event, junior Spencer Vanek recorded a PR as well at 48.59 seconds. He finished 10th overall.
In the 100m, senior Cade VanHout advanced to tomorrow's finals with a third-place time of 10.63 seconds.
After day one in the decathlon, junior Dale Yerges ranks 14th overall with 3106 points. His best finishes so far are a sixth-place finish in the 100m at 11.29 seconds and seventh-place finish in the 400m at 50.71 seconds.
Women's Highlights
Senior Jessica Buss qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 400m hurdles behind her sixth-place time of 1:05.22.
Sophomore Delanee Klaas placed ninth in the javelin throw and set a new personal best with a toss of 33.07m. That bested her previous best mark by over five meters.
Senior Kayla Lipsey placed 11th in the 100m hurdles, running a PR time of 16.07 seconds. Klaas took 12th in the event with a time of 16.62 seconds.
