School Record Highlights Opening Outdoor Meet
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams kicked off the outdoor season on Thursday afternoon when it hosted the Dubuque Dual. Senior Justin Eichler highlighted the event by setting a new school record in the hammer throw.

Men's Highlights
Senior Justin Eichler shattered his previous school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 65.90m, surpassing his previous record from last year of 62.58m. He won the event, with his best throw coming on his second attempt of the day.
Sophomore Caden Schneider won the 3000m steeplechase behind a time of 9:27.63. Junior Joey Madsen (9:54.55) and sophomore Christopher Wier (10:24.89) also scored in the event with third and fourth place finishes, respectively.
In the 1500m run, freshman Zachary Sporaa ran a time of 4:08.02 to win the event. Senior Troy Humpal placed third at 4:11.81 while freshman Paul Pfeifer came in fourth at 4:13.88.
Junior Zach Zenner won the 400m at 49.56 seconds. He was closely followed by junior Spencer Vanek (50.19) and freshman Kaeden Weberpal (50.79), who claimed the next two spots.
Freshman Isaiah Martinez won the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.10 seconds. Freshman Brecken Heinrichs ran a 16.26 for second, while freshman Connor Vierck was third at 16.49 seconds.
Senior Caleb Christiansen took first in the 800m run behind a time of 1:59.68. Freshman Andrew Zimmerman placed third at 2:01.42, while sophomore Paul Treiber was right behind for fourth at 2:03.16.
Junior Dale Yerges was third in the 400m hurdles at 59.58 seconds. The Pioneers 4x400m relay team of Evan Graves, Zimmerman, Weberpal, and Zenner ran a time of 3:28.65 to win the event.
In the field events, senior Daniel Inyang finished second in the high jump at 1.97m. Freshman Mason Leeser came in second in the long jump at 6.42m, while sophomore James Ketterer won the triple jump at 13.45m, which came on his first attempt of the day.
Freshman Trevor Schulz won the pole vault at 4.58m. Junior Evan Klinker finished second with a mark of 3.98m.
Sophomore McKade Jelinek won the discus behind a throw of 45.22m. Sophomore Beau Kopp came in third at 43.67m. Jelinek also took second in the shot put at 15.54m.
Women's Highlights
The Pioneers had the top four finishers in the 1500m run, led by senior Hannah Fliss' winning time of 5:06.53. Sophomore Leah Digmann placed second at 5:13.07 followed by freshman Kendra Downing (5:17.28) and sophomore Avery Brown (5:17.84). Digmann also won the 800m with a time of 2:36.43, while Downing took second in that event at 2:39.04.
Senior Jessica Buss won the 400m hurdles, running a time of 1:06.88 to lead the field of four. Senior Kayla Lipsey placed third at 1:13.79.
Junior Margaret Rusch won the 400m behind a time of 1:00.77. Junior Lindsey Barnes was the runner-up in the event at 1:04.71.
Freshman Hailey Campbell finished second in the high jump at 1.62m. In the pole vault, sophomore Emma Egnoski took second at 3.15m, while sophomore Hayley Wuebben and freshman Evelyn Troxel claimed the next two spots behind marks of 2.85m.
In the 100m, freshman Elianna Dalamangas placed third with a finals time of 12.70 seconds. Lipsey took fourth in the event behind a time of 12.79 seconds.
Senior Alexis Healey won the long jump with a leap of 5.00m, while Dalamangas won the triple jump at 11.21m.
Sophomore Samantha Klann took third in the hammer throw with her best toss of 39.33m coming on her first attempt of the day. Junior Brenna Noon posted a mark of 12.78m in the shot put to take second in the event.
Senior Mia Schroeder was second in the javelin throw at 29.83m.
