Pioneers Wrap Up Day One Of WIAC Championships

Men's Highlights
Senior Cade VanHout advanced to tomorrow's 60m finals with his third-place time of 6.88 seconds in the preliminaries.
UW-Platteville got three points from the distance medley team of sophomore Caden Schneider, sophomore Alex Geissler, sophomore Joshua Stone, and senior Caleb Christiansen. The quartet placed sixth with a time of 10:21.81.
Junior Dale Yerges sits at 17th in the heptathlon with 2408 points after the first four events. His best finish was in the 60m with a ninth-place time of 7.26 seconds.
Women's Highlights
Junior Brenna Noon scored five points for the Pioneers in the shot put, as her toss of 13.44m was good for fourth overall.
The women's distance medley team of freshman Kendra Downing, senior Jessica Buss, sophomore Leah Digmann, and junior Lindsey Barnes placed sixth with a time of 13:05.77.
Senior Kayla Lipsey narrowly missed advanced to the final in the 60m hurdles, but she ran a new personal-best time of 9.36 in the prelims to finish ninth.

Day two of the championships will begin at 10 a.m. with the remainder of the pentathlon and heptathlon events. Field events will start at 11 a.m. with running events slated for 1:40 p.m.
