Pioneers Compete At Sol Butler Classic Friday Evening
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Sol Butler Classic, hosted by the University of Dubuque, on Friday evening. The Pioneers men’s team finished with 126 points to take second out of six teams, while the women totaled 96 to finish third.

Women's Highlights
Junior Brenna Noon put together a strong evening in the throws events as she won the weight throw at 15.69m before posting a season-best mark of 13.83m in the shot put to place third. Sophomore Samantha Klann (13.34m) and freshman Laura Weaver (13.02m) also scored in the weight throw, taking sixth and eighth, respectively.
Freshman Hailey Campbell posted a personal-best mark of 5.28m in the long jump to win the event. Junior Shannon Wulf came in fourth in the event at 4.97m and also placed third in the 60m dash with a time of 8.15.
In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Delanee Klaas ran a personal-best time of 9.76 to come in fourth. Freshman Danielle Mauhar took fifth in the event at 9.85.
Sophomore Malina Koepp finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 9.91m. In the pole vault, sophomore Elsa Nelson set a new personal-best at 2.65m to take fourth.
Two Pioneers scored in the 400m, led by junior Margarest Rusch's time of 1:00.39 to place fourth. Senior Jessica Buss was two spots behind with a time of 1:02.34.
Freshman Ava Garrard ran a PR of 2:34.58 in the 800m to come in fifth overall. Junior Caitlynn Hahn scored in two events, finishing fifth in the 60m (8.25) and sixth in the 200m (27.71).
Men's Highlights
For the second time this indoor season, senior Justin Eichler broke his own school record in the weight throw. He threw a mark of 20.25m, which ranks fourth on the NCAA DIII list, to finish second in the event.
Sophomore Caden Schneider won the mile with a time of 4:18.82. Freshman Zachary Sporaa (4:22.49), junior Jakob Eggen (4:26.13), and junior Joey Madsen (4:27.20) also scored in the event, finishing third, fourth, and sixth, respectively.
Senior Caleb Christiansen led four scorers in the 3000m with his winning time of 8:51.04. Senior Riley Coulter placed third at 8:52.74, while junior Korbin Eisler (8:59. 61) and freshman Maxwell Sporaa (9:01.52) took fifth and sixth.
The Pioneers had four freshman score in the 60m hurdles, led by Brecken Heinrichs fourth-place time of 8.88. Isaiah Martines (8.89), Ryan Owens (9.01) and Connor Vierck (9.07) followed right-behind for the next three spots in the event.
In the 400m, sophomore Alex Geissler and freshman Kaeden Weberpal each a time of 52.04 to finish back-to-back at fourth and fifth. Junior Dylan Miller claimed eighth place in the event at 52.29.
Three more Pioneers scored in the 800m, led by sophomore Joshua Stone's time of 1:59.05 to finish fourth. Freshman Andrew Zimmerman came in fifth at 1:59.60 while junior Davin Dahl was eighth at 2:01.74.
Senior Daniel Inyang competed in his first indoor meet of the season and took second in the high jump with a leap of 1.99m. Freshman Colin Fosler came in sixth at 1.89.
Freshman Trevor Schulz placed third in the pole vault at 4.35m. Freshman Mason Leeser set a new PR in the long jump at 6.50m to also take third place.
UW-Platteville also sent a 4x400m relay team to the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open on Friday with the group of junior Spencer Vanek, junior Zach Zenner, senior Cade VanHout, and sophomore James Ketterer winning the event with a time of 3:19.01.
