Pioneers Post Strong Marks At Wartburg Saturday
WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Wartburg Select meet on Saturday, with both teams posting several personal-bests, including a school record in the weight throw by senior Justin Eichler. The men’s team placed second with 138 points, while the women took third with 84 points.

Women's Highlights
Three Pioneers scored in the 5000m, led by senior Natalie Kreier's personal-best time of 18:35.68, which won the event. Sophomore Paige Guttman also posted a PR (21:16.20) to finish seventh, while senior Lydia Oakleaf came in eighth at 21:54.99.
Junior Shannon Wulf tallied a personal-best in the 60m at 8.17 to finish second. Junior Caitlynn Hahn came in sixth in the event behind a time of 8.40.
Freshman Danielle Mauhar scored in a pair of events, including a PR of 9.81 in the 60m hurdles to finish fifth. She ran another PR in the 200m (27.72) to take eighth. Sophomore Delanee Klaas joined her in scoring in the 60m hurdles with a sixth-place time of 9.97.
Senior Hannah Fliss finished fifth in the 3000m with a personal-best time of 10:38.05.
In the shot put, junior Brenna Noon tossed a season-best mark of 13.45m to win the event. Sophomore Samantha Klann took sixth with a throw of 11.32m. Noon also scored in the weight throw, finishing sixth at 14.44m.
The Pioneers had four score in the pole vault, with sophomore Emma Egnoski posting a PR of 2.90m to finish third. Freshman Evelyn Troxel took fourth at 2.74m, while sophomore Hayley Wuebben (2.60m) and sophomore Elsa Nelson (2.30m) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Junior Lizzie Andrews jumped a season-best 10.19m in the triple jump to finish fourth. Freshman Elianna Dalamangas was one spot behind for fifth at 10.11, and sophomore Malina Koepp also scored with a seventh-place jump of 9.97m.
UW-Platteville rounded out the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400.
Men's Highlights
Senior Justin Eichler broke his own school record in the weight throw, as he won the event with a toss of 19.85m. That mark currently ranks fifth in the DII Indoor rankings. Three other Pioneers scored in the event, with junior Andrew Cunningham coming in third (16.09m), senior Nicholas Walechka taking fourth (15.56m), and junior Sam LaPean earning eighth (13.60m).
In the shot put, freshman Cohen Pfohl finished third with a toss of 14.29m. Walechka finished fourth at 13.82m, while sophomore McKade Jelinek was fifth with a PR of 13.74m.
Senior Cade VanHout put together a strong day, led by his first-place finish in the 60m behind a season-best time of 6.86m He also took second in the 200m with another season-best time at 22.59.
Freshman Trevor Schulz won the pole vault with a personal-best of 4.55m. Sophomore Gunner Katzenmeyer came in sixth with a season-best mark of 3.95m.
In the 400m, junior Zach Zenner posted a time of 49.83 to win the event. Junior Spencer Vanek crossed the line in 50.42 to finish third, while freshman Kaeden Weberpal placed seventh at 50.87.
Freshman Zachary Sporaa took second in the 5000m behind a time of 15:20.17, while senior Riley Coulter took fourth with a personal-best time of 15:29.48. Junior Korbin Eisler also scored, placing sixth at 15:44.10.
Junior Joey Madsen finished fifth in the mile with a PR time of 4:26.86. Freshman Paul Pfeifer was right behind for sixth at 4:28.90.
Freshman Connor Vierck took eighth in the 60m hurdles at 9.10 seconds.
Freshman Colin Fosler finished third in the high jump with a leap of 1.85m. Sophomore James Ketterer placed third in the triple jump at 12.92m.
Junior Dale Yerges totaled 3879 points in the heptathlon to finish fourth overall. His best finishes came in the 60m (7.34) and 1000m (2:55.45), in which he placed third.
The Pioneers 4x400 relay team of Ketterer, Alex Geissler, Zenner, and Weberpal rounded out the meet with a second-place finish at 3:23.32.
