Lawrence Sets New School Record At Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – Junior Will Lawrence competed for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field team at the Drake Relays on Saturday afternoon, setting a new school record in the javelin at the meet.
After breaking his own school record two weeks ago at the UW-Platteville Invitational, Lawrence set a new school mark at the Drake Relays winning the javelin with a throw of 69.85m (229' 2"). It bested his previous top mark of 66.17m by over three meters and won the event by over half a meter. The throw currently places him atop the NCAA Division III List, surpassing Greg Poloso of Rowan who tossed 69.23m two weeks ago.
Lawrence and the rest of the Pioneers men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the WIAC Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday. Day one of the meet will begin at 1 p.m. with Saturday's events scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m with UW-Whitewater set to be the host.
